The Fate of Books

Chris Conway writing on the vanishing book: http://www.insidehighered.com/views/2008/11/03/conway

I just played with a Kindle the other day and actually liked it. It’s lighter than carrying books and fairly easy to operate. Conway is right though – there’s something beautiful and tactile about holding a book in your hands, licking the tip of a finger to turn the page, or the weight of a book in your hand. the experience of reading a hard copy book is irreplaceable. That said, I like trees and shade too – I may have to compromise.
