being a bibliophile

Welcome to bibliophile – the blog where I share my thoughts on books, art, fashion, and culture.

 Enjoy!

What strikes me is the fact that in our society, art has become something which is only related to objects, and not to individuals, or to life.     – Michel Foucault

  1. I think that you should get your MA in writing! While I didn’t fully agree with you about Senator Obama’s acceptance speech, you did an excellent job of presenting your view.

With respect to Whites who are pulling out their BFF’s of color, I think that this demonstrates that none of us in our lifetimes expected a person of color to be a serious contender for the presidency — to be within striking distance. As a result, we are all struggling to find the vocabulary that captures our feelings, thoughts and disappointments. It’s a teachable moment for us all.

I don’t think John Lewis was scheduled to introduce Obama. He did have a prominent role and gave props to MLK, Jr. and all the other civil rights warriors who paved the way. MLK, III was also on the program.
